Heritage architecture, a tightrope walker and author Farley Mowat

Port Hope has a lot to show off! Take one of our Heritage Walking and Driving Tours to learn the tales and triumphs of historic buildings and landmarks. You'll learn about the monument to author and environmentalist Farley Mowat, one of our most famous residents, and the amazing feats of William Hunt, the Great Farini, who walked a tightrope across the Ganaraska River that flows through town. Discover more Port Hope history and heritage while you're here!

See barns, farmers and Port Hope scenes from the movie IT

Horror writer Stephen King has been to Port Hope for a visit, too! The IT movies were filmed in Port Hope and shown at the Capitol Theatre for a release party. You can take a self-guided IT Walking Tour see locations featured in the films.

Local food is about building community and supporting the local economy. Take a Fresh Food Guide Tour to meet farmers and see their operations. Maybe sample fresh-picked berries and tomatoes! You can also follow the Barn Quilt Trail to see the art tile quilts by local artists that tell the stories of our historic barns.

And don't miss our Farmers Market for great food and home baking, where pie is delicious for breakfast!
